About Us

There are over 27 Million slaves today in the world. Over 800,000 people mainly women and children are trafficked every year. Modern Day slavery exists in the form of human trafficking.

After the arms and drugs markets, it is the largest underground business worldwide. It is a global phenomenon that crosses boundaries, cultures, and all faiths, Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist and more. It affects people of all classes and not just in third world countries, but in many first world countries as well including the United States.

There are many sites and organizations that are working to combat this modern day iniquity.  Due to the scope and size of the problem, no one particular organization can do it all. This is a humble effort, and a starting point. The goal is just to build further awareness of this practice in conservative cultures, including Muslims, where this subject may be ignored or just accepted.

To combat trafficking, especially of women and children, which makes up about 80 percent of these activities, you can make both a direct or indirect impact on the lives of victims and survivors. Directly it may be rescuing victims and getting authorities to crackdown. Indirectly, any organization that helps to educate or empower vulnerable victims is helping.  With no resources the starting point for this effort is just one person and we need help to spread the word.

Looking at the numbers, some of you may think, that this is too overwhelming. It reminds me of the adage about a man and a boy who meet on the beach.

“One morning an elderly man was walking on a deserted stretch of beach. He came upon a boy surrounded by thousands of starfish. As the boy was picking them up and throwing them back into the ocean. Puzzled, the man looked at the boy and asked, “Son, what are you doing?” The youth responded without looking up, “I’m trying to save these starfish,” The old man asked, “There are thousands of starfish and only one of you. What difference can you make?” Holding a starfish in his hand, the boy turned to the man and, gently tossing the starfish into the water, said, “It will make a difference to that one!”

  1. Hi! I’m writing you on behalf of the Protection Project. We are collecting some insights from Islamic bloggers on the position of Islam regarding the Human Trafficking and we’d love to know what you’d have to say about the topic. What is your opinion regarding the stance of Islam on trafficking and exploitation of women, children and domestic workers? Thank you very much!
